So I've been sick since Monday. And I don't feel like doing homework. So, I guess I shall blog.
1. BYU vs. UCLA. Sorry to start on such a sad note. So...my grandpa and I drove down to the Honda Center in Anaheim to see the anxiously awaited game. It was part of the John Wooden classic. Tangent: John Wooden was truly a phenomenal individual. I have SO much respect for him. Watch this video. It's good. Anyway, UCLA ends up winning. Super depressing. But then again, could you expect UCLA to lose the first year after John Wooden died? Of course not. John Wooden was obviously up above pulling strings. Ha. :)
2. Driving in the rain. Quite the experience. Comparable to walking to school in the snow. Ha. I got more than enough experience driving in the rain over Christmas break since it didn't stop raining for about the first week. I got to experience slight hydroplaning. It was even so bad at one point that people were going about 50 on the freeway. You know it's bad when California drivers drive under the speed limit on the freeway. One of the most fun experiences was probably having people drive by and huge wave of water obscuring my view completely.
3. Typewriters. I think they are super cool. My grandpa used to have quite a few at his furniture store for whatever reason and they were always fun to play with. However, that is not the point of #3. The point is across the street from Rocky Cola Cafe in Montrose, there is a typewriter repair shop. It repairs other things as well, but typewriters is still listed on the sign. Really? When is the last time someone actually brought in a typewriter to be fixed at that shop? Even if people still own typewriters, there's no way they still actually use them and need them to be fixed.
4. Weddings in the rain. My cousin Melissa just got married over break. It was raining on the day of her wedding. And I decided weddings in the rain are great! First of all, it's not hot. Second of all, my hair curls excellently. Third of all, you can take cute umbrella pictures. I guess those are the only reasons. Ha.
5. Frechicko Grill. What the heck?! That is the name of a restaurant on the main street where I live. Is it supposed to be a combination of "fresh" and "chicken"? Bizarre.
6. Carrie, Nick, Justin, and I went to Knott's Berry Farm with some of our cousins on Christmas Eve. On our drive down, Justin says, "Ryan Dempster. Why did I just say that?" Hahahahahahahahahahahahaha. What in the world?!?! For those of you who do not know, Ryan Dempster is a professional baseball player. After this outburst, we all decided that Justin's brain must just be baseball players flashing all the time. Oh Justin. :)
7. Engraving your name on a grain of rice. A common attraction at theme parks. What a great way to make a profit. Think about it. First of all, rice is not very expensive. Second of all, how is anyone going to be able to tell if there name is actually engraved on the rice. Third of all, it would be a miracle if you did not lose this prized grain of rice by the time you go home that night. Thus, it is a complete waste of money for the buyer, but a genius idea for the seller because having your name engraved on a grain of rice just sounds cool. Ha.
8. Ghost Rider. I finally went on the infamous wooden roller coaster. Some how I had avoided it all the other times I'd been to Knott's. It is a very painful roller coaster. It reminds me of Colossus at Six Flags. Why do people continue to go on wooden roller coasters? They put their own health at risk every time.
9. Toward the end of the day at Knott's we were walking past the theater where they have a show on ice about Snoopy. I remembered going to see it when I was younger. So I pointed out to my siblings and cousins that they were having "It's Christmas, Snoopy" On Ice (the title of the show). All of the sudden, this little kid walking by us (he was probably four or five) said, "No, actually it's Christmas Eve." Hahahaha. Sorry kid.
10. On Christmas morning, Leah received roller blades and the appropriate knee and elbow pads. She was wanting to go try them out so my mom was helping her put the pads on. Leah wanted to put the knee pads on under her pants. So we proceeded to try and explain why you put them on the outside of your pants. My mom said, "They're gonna rub you raw." To which Leah replied, "They're gonna rub my what?!" Hahahahhahahaha. Hilarious. You probably had to be there.
Well hope you enjoyed at least 3.19 percent of that entry. :)

Not a priority.
I haven't blogged in a long time and couldn't resist any longer! Ha. Highlight of the day: Condoleezza Rice came and spoke at BYU today! It was really great!!! Alright, now to catch up on a long list of things to blog about. Don't worry, I'll stop at ten like usual.
1. Closing tabs. This is the best part of finishing a research paper. I love using tabs while surfing the internet which is probably why I especially like Google Chrome. However, while writing a research paper using a variety of online sources, the tabs can sometimes be and often are very overwhelming. Thus, I feel a great sense of accomplishment when I can close each tab after I finish writing a research paper. Yes. I'm weird.
2. Six pages in Spanish. Not extremely long. But hey. I consider it an accomplishment. Despite my disdain for research papers or really any type of paper at all, I am proud to say that I can actually write formal long papers in a second language. Now as far as speaking goes...that's another story. Ha.
3. Meat. Before every ESPN highlight video there is a commercial you they force you to watch. One of the popular ones awhile ago was for Applebee's. In one part they were cutting some type of meat and at that moment all I wanted was some good meat. I'm not a fan of cooking meat at college mostly because I'm lazy. This is probably why this meat looked so appealing. Don't worry. I have successfully purchased some protein this semester. :)
4. Large Christmas tree. Outside our apartment in the quad is a very large Christmas tree. It is probably 20 feet tall. People from my ward advertised free tree removal service on Craigslist and found someone who had this tree in their yard. So we cut it down and brought it here. It's even decorated and has a star on top. And it looks super pretty with the snow on it! I am not sure how long it is going to stay there. In fact, I thought it would be gone by now. But I'm not complaining. :)
5. A friend from one of my classes offered me a ride to the airport since he and his sisters had a flight at the same time as I did. I was to meet at his sister's apartment which is about fourish blocks away. Not a big deal. However, this meant I had to drag my humongous suitcase down a somewhat busy street in cold and snowy conditions. I must have looked completely ridiculous. I hope I made someone laugh. :)
6. Provo Tabernacle. The morning I left for home, I found out the Provo Tabernacle had caught fire and was pretty much completely destroyed. So sad. First of all, it was a super cool building! Second of all, it could have very easily been the oldest building in Provo. Third of all, my choir had a whole bunch of concerts scheduled there this semester. We had to reschedule our concerts and cancel one of them completely. And guess when our big concert is scheduled? Yep. On the same exact night that the Lakers will be playing in Salt Lake. Not. Good.
7. I got to the airport just in time to wait in a big line. Luckily it went fast. Of course my suitcase was 53 pounds. Luckily I brought an extra duffle bag since I thought this might be the case. Then I got to wait in a nice long security line. That went semi-fast too. And one of the security guys said that the BYU basketball team had just been there. Too bad I missed them. I even got to go through one of those new body scanner things that everyone makes such a huge fuss about. Not a big deal people. I'd rather lose a little privacy than have someone sneak a weapon of some sort onto a plane. Oh and it seems like every time I fly out of Salt Lake, my flight leaves from the farthest away possible gate. They must hate me.
8. Once I landed at the great LAX, we taxied around the airfield for probably a good half hour. Weather conditions plus construction made for a very scenic route to our gate. We were supposed to be early. I think we ended up being late. Ha. I even contemplated taking a nap while we were taxiing.
9. Upon arrival to my dad's office at LAX, I was invited to eat part of the biggest burrito you have ever seen. It was probably eight feet long. You cut a small slice of it and it was as big as a normal burrito. It was so good! I guess they got it from some place called the Burrito Factory. It was an excellent welcome back to California. :)
10. Rain. From the moment I landed, I don't think it stopped raining for about five days. Pretty much every time I looked or went outside, it was raining. I know for a fact I did not see the sun for those five days. As much as I love the rain, I was hoping for a little more sunshine in the Sunshine State. But at least it wasn't snowing.
Alright. There's ten. I won't bore you with any more. Happy Martin Luther King Jr. Day if I don't blog before that point! :)
